From being branded as Mexico's most streamed musical artist to gaining millions of followers on social media to performing on the Jimmy Fallon Show, Peso Pluma is indeed one of the fastest-rising artists today. He is known for his unique way of embellishing contemporary trap with traditional regional music— resulting in a genre that is refreshing yet relatable to all ages. With the success he is basking on this time, one can't help but ask what is next for the 24-year-old musician. With a new album recently released and his unparalleled success on Spotify, there is no denying that Pluma is on the way to international stardom.

Influenced by Mexican icons Ariel Camacho and Valentín Elizalde, Peso Pluma, who is Hassan Laija in real life, started his musical journey when he was a teenager. Like most young people, he posted videos online and built his confidence through various social media platforms. With a charismatic character and a big potential to make it big in the industry, Pluma was noticed by a record label and was eventually signed to be one of Mexico's youngest corridos artists. He released his debut album, "Ah y Qué?" in 2020. Although the album did not instantly put him on the pedestal of Latin music royalties, songs like "La Pluma de Wax," "El Penguin," and "Relajado Voy" helped increase his following. He released his sophomore album, "Efectos Secundarios," the following year. The 10-track album was a success and featured many artists like El Choforo, Hector Rubio, and Los Del Fl.

In addition to his albums, Peso Pluma was able to release two live albums, "Disco en Vivo" and "Disco en Vivo, Vol. 2," and an EP, "Sembrando." The latter peaked at number 48 on the US Latin Chart. People also know his name through some song collaborations that are massively successful. His song "El Belicón" with Raul Vega is certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA and 3x Platinum by the Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (AMPROFON). His song "PRC" with Natanael Cano and "Ella Baila Sola" with Eslabon Armado both reached quadruple platinum status in the RIAA.

If you are following the Latin music scene these days, you would know that Pluma's name is usually mentioned in the same breath as Shakira, Tainy, and other Latin music stars. He recently released his third album, "Genesis." True to its name, the 14-track album is yet the beginning of the best things for the Mexican artist.

Moreover, he is also embarking on a massive North American tour, which will kick off this July in California. Looking forward to seeing him in person? You don't need to worry because Pluma will be stopping at some of the major venues in the US and Canada, including Birmingham, Alabama's Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, on September 17.
